Referee Clinics for New Referees Summer 2025

Learn to referee rec soccer games. Open to anyone 12 years to adult. Training sessions held every summer in the July-August time frame.

REFEREES NEEDED

Our two local recreational soccer programs, Girls Southeast Soccer (GSE) and Southeast Cincinnati Soccer Association (SCSA) in our area are looking for referees

Benefits: Increasing your soccer IQ while making money.

Pay Scale:  At our youngest ages, referees are paid $14 per game and can work a couple of games a day working with their Referee Assignor.  Fees increase for games for older players up to $45 per game.

Age Requirement:  Must be 12 years old by August 15th. All older ages are welcomed

Games:  The fall season starts in August with games on Saturday and Sundays at Anderson Park District fields.

Flexible Schedule: You pick the games you want to ref!

2025 CLINIC DETAILS

  • Each session runs for 3 nights, either Monday-Wednesday, from 6-8:30 pm.
  • Each new referee must attend all 3 nights of either session.
  • Class will be in-person at: Anderson Center Basement (7850 Five Mile Rd) – no online option available.

Class format

Each session will be a mixture of classroom instructions, field instruction, and small group practice drills. We will go through the LAWS OF THE GAME from LAW 1 to LAW 17 and address how the referee facilitates each. We will discuss pre-game responsibilities, checking players in, how to get games, and how to deal with difficult situations. We will also practice many of the things a referee has to do in a typical games so when you get on the field, you’ll have a little bit of experience under your belt.


Cost: There is a nominal fee of $30. In exchange, referees will receive a referee whistle, red/yellow cards, certification patch and Velcro.

Concussion Training Requirement: Referees are required to pass an on-line Concussion Training course and bring proof of completion to the first referee class.

WHAT TO BRING ON DAY 1

  • Completed Concussion Certificate OR email them to referees@scsa-soccer.org
  • $30 clinic fee – cash or check payable to SCSA. Sorry, no Venmo.
  • Pencil / pen & something hard to write on.
  • Gym shoes. (We will be on our feet some.)

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early the first day.

We will be teaching from Soccer Laws Made Easy Rulebook & the SCSA Rulebook.
